I have laid out the odd optical ore sorter in my day job...
Small scale ops like this are super easy to incorporate this tech - it gets a bit harder on larger scales where surge and feed rates are optimized.
WRT to its underground use,
The sorters are usually downstream of some form of crusting and screening so unless your doing that underground (VTX aren't) it wont happen here.
It will work well here in any case
