I think a more logical player to fill the void left by VAH would be Air New Zealand. International travel is likley to be subdued for many years to come so they could deploy some of their planes to Australia that would otherwise be left idle and perhaps rebadge them under the old Ansett name.
Rex could then perhaps pick off some of the smaller regional routes flown by VAH.
This scenario I think would be far better than a government bail out of VAH and would still maintain competition within the sector.
I think a more logical player to fill the void left by VAH would...
