I think the medical benefit is the comparison of improvement, not the individual improvement in each arm.
The treatment had 52% and 86% ( almost double ) the effects that standard of care had during the same period.
You can just add the numbers on there.
MSB 28.7% to 33.7% vs Control 28.6% to 31.9%
MSB 29.1% to 34.7% vs Control 28.2% to 31.1 %
It's comparing the increase in mean improvement of Rex to Controls.
Least mean squared is a fancy word for mean / average
