I think it's important to try to look at the thing itself and nothing else and its context. A lot is just common sense and something most of us have.

The article's behind a paywall but I recall it well; it was 'debunking' stem cells for the heart and caused a bit of stir on here. Its readership is educated, so presumably it knew there was nothing to debunk; there's been a lot of failure in stem cells for heart and widespread scepticism.

Perhaps for this reason, MSB's trial went for a conservative primary end point, not thinking such results could be possible? Now some posters are telling us with authority that FDA might not approve because of missing primary end point. The FDA being 'sceptical' might require a further trial to confirm these stunning and unexpected results?

Sounds to me a bit like Catch 22 as in ARDS trial.

Following the narrative in the media, after 25 years of debate on steroids and ARDS in top journals, it was only during this pandemic that doctors worked out how best to use them? A directive from the WHO to use steroids in Covid ARDS, backed up by the spook machine the BBC that told us if DEX had been used in the beginning 5000 patients could have been saved.

I don't see how this couldn't have affected the ARDS trial. Our cells respond to signals of inflammation. My view is the gap between treatment and placebo narrowed because both arms became DEX.

I still think ARDS might still be in with a chance if there's enough data from the first half of the trial. A brief reading of the literature told me that most ARDS patients survive, but many survive badly. That's what insurers are paying hugely for and I've written in great detail about, tried to find recent sources.

I think the situation in ARDS is as bad as it ever was. I hope Novartis will have the common sense to run a trial against steroids.

I wasn't aware of Bezos owning WaPo. I have seen some of their Headline stories which were later shown to be BS. Keen to know more about WaPo fact checking with regard to MSB. Anyone.
