You are correct about the LiFePo batteries. I have been looking at alternative batteries for an industrial UPS application. In the last year the cost of the LiFePo batteries proposed by the supplier has dropped from 2X the price of lead acid batteries to 1.5X the price of lead acid batteries. Considering the lead acid batteries need to be replaced 3-4 times during the lifetime of the UPS and the LiFePo batteries outlast the UPS the decision to go with LiFePo is a complete no brainer economically. The high stability and safety of LiFePo batteries is another strong advantage they have. I would not consider NCM Lithium ion batteries for a critical UPS application due to the possibility of a thermal runaway.
