That is one hell of a big loan from a government who badly wants Lithium and Boron produced in-country, the size of the loan pretty much says it all.
Sibanye would be foolhardy to pull out, but then again, they don't want all their eggs in similar baskets, and they've just taken out a half billion euro loan to fund their Finland Lithium project.
Perhaps it's time to Sibanye and Rio to sit down and do a deal.
We could be in for an interesting 2025.
