Both the FOBT and FIT check for blood in the stool.
FOBT requires a restricted diet before the test. You can’t eat red meat otherwise it may detect blood from that meat consumption.
FIT doesn’t require a restricted diet and usually only picks up blood from the lower gasto-intestinal tract which is generally what they want to check for. It is considered more accurate than FOBT.
The American College of Gastroenterology has recommended the abandoning of FOBT testing as a colorectal cancer screening in favor of the FIT.
ColoSTAT is more accurate than the FIT and doesn’t require a stool sample. It can also detect at much earlier stages.
