Not sure where you get 10g/ton to be viable? It's an open pit mine, if it was fetching 10g/ton we would all be very happy and sipping champagne (instead of this pepsi max) right now. They process in layers and the grade gets higher the deeper they go so it's not big surprise the top layers are 1 to 2 g right now.
