Article seems a bit confused about Li and LCE. Details matter!
Rule of thumb is somewhere around 0.9kg LCE per kWh afaik.
In round numbers:
70kWh Tesla = circa 60kg LCE
100kWh Tesla = circa 90kg LCE
40kWh Nissan Leaf = circa 35kg LCE
IIRC the average EV battery pack capacity is over 50kWh and increasing yoy.
For my rough back-of-the-envelope estimates, I just use 50kg of LCE per EV, or 50kt per million EVs.
