Approval only just dropped for the expansion, and offtake has always been largely dependent on that, so the clock only started ticking a couple of weeks ago. Deals that big take more than a couple of weeks to finalise and, for all we know, some progress towards nameplate might also be expected before pen goes to paper. Progress towards nameplate is to be expected with recent announced progress with the process.
All offtakes in this sector to date have been as flimsy as fark and are effectively nothing more than PR exercises to boost shareholder support. None are binding unless it really is as easy as digging up spodumene and shipping it to China, which it's not. Ask Albemarle. If you think Rio will be producing 3ktpa by the end of the year then jump on in.
