Lithium will become harder to obtain in the future after one of the world’s major producers, Chile, announced a decree essentially locking off major lithium-rich areas for state-owned miner Codelco. A recent Association of Mining and Exploration Companies report said Australia had about two years to secure these minerals globally before the global market locked down where the battery components could be sourced and by whom.
