IMO, from a battery co's standpoint, it would be far preferable to deal directly with a one-stop-shop for high quality battery-ready chemicals, than to try to herd a miner and a Chinese converter and hope that everything just "works out". It's all based on risk and cost. They can't afford much risk when VW or similar demand X million battery cells at X date at X cost. Certainty of supply, timing, quality and cost will be key for them imo.
Time will tell!!
