Who is doing the manipulating though?

Lots of fingers being pointed at China at the moment for their push to secure supply where their hand has been forced. Ex china supply is being carved out / prohibited by Western jurisdictions. FIRB changed rules for Chinese investment in Aus, Canada banned Chinese ownership, Mexico revoked Ganfengs mining rights, Chile nationalised li assets, etc etc

Regardless, the lions share of lithium is sourced from Aus and South America where the biggest expansions are taking place, why isn't anyone blaming them for lack of supply discipline which would solve the price issue? I see a lot of commentary blaming china yet those supplying them materials have clean hands. Equally those arguing for ex China supply chains are doing very little to convert their own material and continue to be heavily reliant on china. You can't have it both ways unfortunately. Countries need to find amicable ways to work with China not go to war they cannot won.

    Aimo
