Not going to get engaged in a debate or long explanation and sure the fundamentals of a stock is what ultimately determines fair value. But fair value doesn't necessarily reflect current price.
Charts to my mind can provide clues to prevailing market sentiment. Market psychology is often what drives markets up and down and can be at odds to the fundamentals. Price can run way ahead of fundamental value on investor euphoria. Conversely, price can be slow to respond to great news. Charts may show news already priced in, in anticipation. Etc etc.
Price is king. Doesn't matter what you think the price should be. All that matters is what the price is.
Using both together is a great tool. For example, it's easier to hold through market gyrations if a knowledge of the fundamentals leads you to believe the market is currently undervaluing the stock.
