Fairly normal afternoon thunderstorms in the Gascoyne and parts of WA for this time of year. May have curtailed work for the day.
Mangaroon is just NW (approx 80 Km) of Mt Augustus.
Drillers finishing up by late afternoon so may have missed the lightning patches.
Last mine site I worked at the drillers had to shut down even before the storms came over the horizon. A 20 tonne rig with a high mast on top of the c30m waste dump (drilling 2000+- m holes) was a very good lightning rod. Safety first.
