Whilst I have held GCY/SPR for longer than my marriage... I do want to try and be a little detached as in the end, I am here to make a return, to have the best possible chance at not losing any capital and to have the right team to manage the assets (the last point in the most contested for me, as SPR has already built an enviable team.... but I won't ever deny that RMS team has done a very impressive job of running multiple mines and plants).
Because I have a little time on my hands, I found these slightly dated slides from RMS (2022, yep... RMS has been looking for their '3rd hub' for a long time now, an impressive level of patience). The first slide is nothing new, but... the second, has not been shown often nor recently. If RMS can keep Mt Magnet at 200k p.a. Then RMS will be able become a 380k-400k p.a producer when combined with SPR (500k with Rebecca/Roc) with all their assets with 10+ year mines lives... that would be a premier gold play.
Whilst I imagine the SPR team and all stakeholders are too busy to read HC threads, I can honestly say I won't begrudge whatever deal might eventuate because I trust SPRs board to do the best they can with what they have at hand. Shutting the plant was... the right decision... I mean look at the carcases across the sector that did not do the same when things started to go wrong (almost all went under). Any MD that can have that sort of conversation with their staff is rare... in any industry. There is never a perfect deal, so expecting one is simply unrealistic, though I imagine many will have a challenging time coming to their own conclusions about the offer that is likely to come.
