EVs (will) have range of 300 km per charge, if battery gets "only" 2000 cycles this means 600,000 kilometers, what good is a 6,000 cycle battery in a car that in the whole life time does 300,0000 km at most?
Old Nissan Leaf battery (LMO) did something like 600 cycles and it could do only 150 km per charge, that is something that really wasn't good enough. If you have 3x the cycle life and 2x the range, then you can make battery last 6x longer.
It's all about good enough and making it as cheaply as possible. Car application doesn't need 6,000 cycle battery, maybe energy storage does.
