    I think we might be getting a little carried away with the dimensions here........

    Unfortunately, its not as simple as width of anomaly = width of iron formation. There are many factors that influence the magnetic response of iron formations, including dip of the stratigraphy, detrital surficial magnetic deposits on the flanks of ridges, the actual proportion of magnetite within the iron formation, etc., etc., etc.

    For sure the iron formation is longer than the Canga outcrop (as indicated by the continuation of the magnetics), but it is unlikely to be thicker than indicated in outcrop. If CTM would present the magnetic data using a different colour scheme, you would see a much thinner ridge of strongly magnetic material with a typical decay signature north and south. The decay of the magnetic signature moving away from the ridge indicates that the formation is near vertical in dip (i.e. the rate of decay of the magnetic signature either side of the ridgeline is similar).
