The DFS said they'll need a permanent workforce of over 200, once operational. At present there are about 100 direct employees.
Over the last few months, they've only advertised for a geo, a process tech and an HR admin.
What does that tell us? Given that it takes up to 2 months to recruit staff, there doesn't appear to be any movement to man the operation in anticipation of "full production in the first quarter of 2016" or even the second or third. Recruiting 100 workers is expensive and time consuming. Medicals alone cost $400+.
The other interesting piece in the DFS was the mention of contracting out the mining, which in my opinion would have made much more sense than buying a "bargain basement" fleet of clapped out Komatsu rubbish during the GFC and directly employing, (then standing down) operators.
It's got me buggered why they persist with the 100 per cent local workforce, too. I've never seen the business sense in this. Even in the downturn mining employment market, there aren't hundreds of qualified and experienced process operators willing to move to a place like Cloncurry.
So when I see job ads for CuDeco appearing on job web sites, offering realistic terms and conditions, (FIFO) it will be the the day that I believe this show is going to actually operate.

I don't think so, most men I know would do whatever it takes to provide for their family and stay off the unemployment line but I suppose these men are of different character.
