I have already explained to you that Wayne McCrae did contribute on one occasion from his own funds many years ago to keep the company afloat. That was before Aum changed to CuDeco back in 2007. I applaud any managing director who supports his company in this way. Few do but Wayne McCrae did.
Since then funds raised have been at very acceptable levels otherwise CuDeco shares on issue would be in the billions like what is happening to PLV which will be a company with 10 billion shares. What a disappointment that must be to their shareholders. It has not happened to CuDeco thanks to Wayne McCrae and the astute CuDeco Board.
Where junior explorers have failed to raise funds at acceptable levels and are finding it more difficult to do so now in a risk averse climate, Wayne McCrae has done what others have failed to do.
It was a masterstroke to establish an office in China. That strategy was maligned by the knockers on this forum as a waste of money. How wrong they were. Wayne McCrae was on the money.
Wayne McCrae recognised that to source the money for development of CuDeco's Rocklands mine, relationships with the Chinese needed to be established on a long term basis and ,the results of Wayne McCrae's approach is clearly evident in the large investments made by Chinese companies in CuDeco without which the bright future for CuDeco would have been at risk..
If other junior explorers had adopted Wayne McCrae's strategy as early as he did and recognised the desirability of establishing a Chinese office, they would be better off now assuming of course that the quality of their deposits matched that of CuDeco's.
You also raise a point about people being able to invest in CuDeco at a better price today than years back. The same applies to many companies as the share prices fluctuate. Newcrest was nearly thirty dollars now it is about a third of that. Rio reached over $150 dollars from memory.
What we are witnessing with the junior explorer section is that ,excellent drilling results from some of them are drawing scant reaction in share price movements. This is a reflection of the lack of interest in the sector. What would have drawn positive responses some years back are being ignored by the market.
This affords excellent investment opportunities if one can pick the right stock and get in early enough. A friend ,who is also an investment advisor, quotes the old adage "Buy straw hats in winter". For me winter has not come in the junior explorer section though I do keep an eye out for another CuDeco. There are the very ossasional exceptions.
