Your two paragraphs are rather connected. The artisanals are going to hand over anything bigger than a pin head that is red, while the plant (as currently configured) is going to only keep the bigger stones. If the next 50K of rubies come out of the plant then we will all be very happy.
More fundamentally most of the value of MUS lies beyond the first auction. As much as we all want it to be a success, in the long run it will be rather unimportant. We should not lose track of the medium to long term.
