What you've written I agree with from the perspective that PNV probably would have been safe if they maintained a MC around $1B in May. But now they're out of the index, the bar has been raised to get back in by quite a lot so they need to outperform the index and be seen to rank at position 179 or better. Just look at the MC of the new additions: they all have MCs >$1.5B although index calculation is based on free-float MC (so harder to get a handle on), but at least gives a guide that PNV would need to see a doubling in SP to be competitive to get back into the index.
