A poster, who originally tipped me in (Gracias Amigo) was of the opinion that there is a bit of activity preceding a key announcement and on which a TH is pulled..
Possibly to never see the light of day again because 4DS (the ASX listed public company) is merely a shell upon which 4DS the traditional private entity sought to attach itself as a way of bringing to market an advanced project/product that had enough potential meet on its bones to satisfy the requirements of appealing to SOPH investors & retails punters like us..
Thus removing the reliance on venture capital to continue to privately fund the ongoing R&D and perhaps speeding up the process to market at the same time again using the same mechanism.
No after sales service requirement and I doubt they are likely to roll on to the next one, we aren't an R&D operation with a plan B so no point merging really, unless some no of a corporate tax break any suitor would likely pick up on doing so.
For me it seems a straight sale of product and IP, unless there is/has been a mood shift towards licensing arrangement revenue streams which Jim originally ruled out..
Though typical flash wasn't the target market back then either as the cost margins on the cheaper flash items didn't carry the premium they were chasing near DRAM bang for buck..
Might not be any different now, but there is a huge pull from all sectors on present flash et al that may pump up the cost benefit analysis to the point you'd put your proudly made sticker on the box of a rubber dildo (with smart controller) if it meant instant market share and mucho EBIT years 1-5.
You'd still think WDC have the inside run.. But then WDC is premier partnered (shares and plays ultra nice) with Intel, AMD, Broadcom to name but a few key players. And they all have need via the product lines for a new swiss army knife like memory chip built in the style of selleys no more gaps..
Then you have 4DS openly placing Nvidia on the mergers and acquisitions slide of their company presso in Nov.. Along with the annotation of the second largest period of M&A activity recorded (Over $100B est) and that the lights rarely stay on past September. As the yanks stop chuggin jugs and closing deals off the back of the Spring Break Euphoria..
And no wonder perhaps as California prob aint so bad but elsewhere? Who wants to try and close a deal in minus 15 degree temps and the EOFY for US listed companies is around then too I believe so use or lose it if you aint already.
The borderline sceptic/cynic in me these days says these guys tapped the market for enough cash for 12m from last raise and prob don't want to go again.. Cash on hand got them through 21 supposedly but with EOFY in June someone will need to let the auditor know who's shout if they are going round again.
So I initially thought June 30 shut the door.. But I admit to a little naivety and a touch of self important belief poss drove that brash exuberance and feel with a little timeline slippage from beginning of development plan in Aug last year that we may over shoot June and close a deal maybe mid H2.
Course they can as you say pull a TH whenever they want on the basis of nailing down negotiations which if complex roll over in to a voluntary suspension from trade pending details being released to market of a material corporate transaction event being finalized.
And if anyone wants know of all the little side applications not yet even considered by 4DS as target then I suggest googling Spansion & Cypress Semiconductors. The Docs been watching 4DS for years all right, cause I dare say he knows better than most exactly what this new fangled re badged old theory non filamentary interfacing controllable switching tech can do... And money talks as to where it's better off doing it for now.. There's no rush, things got years in it yet.. No need to do it all at once. leave something in the development cupboard of cold leftovers you can warm up when needed and keep things relevant
