Super funds would definitely loan stock to shorters, why wouldn't they, they are long term holders so why not profit along the way by loaning their stock out? That is in the members interests.
As far as selling to shorters, I'm sure there are plenty of times where a super fund liquidates a position at very low prices because they've finally had to admit they are wrong and that is a point where shorters will be covering into the final pukes by long holders. I think though you're suggesting that super funds offer up stock in companies they believe are good value to shorters to help them unwind positions for the benefit of the shorter and to the detriment of members? I can't see why that would ever happen?
