The shorters will come with it if the ASX is in bearish territory. Being a mining and banking dominant index, we’ll start seeing some divergence from idiosyncratic market movements. IE if China announces a big stimulas that would benefit the materials and energy sector you might see some unexplained buying in NEU and vice versa.
interesting times for the holders and December read out can’t come fast enough
