It is widely recognised that there simply has not been enough upstream investment to meet forecast demand - hence the forecast Li shortfalls increasing very significantly into the next 5 and 10 years.
Imo if it’s not Tesla that eventually throws money at miners, it will be others.
If CATL and others can guarantee supply of his future orders, then that’s great, but it looks like the overall order books will greatly exceed what is produced upstream - so someone will need to invest heavily - I’m not too bothered whether that money comes from Tesla, VW, SKI, CATL, Posco, or others, but I do think it is inevitable that BIG money will flow to the bottlenecks, considering the market balance situation that is unfolding.
As usual, we’ll see.
