When I was much younger - a Darkpebble, so to speak - a bunch of my friends, well acquaintances mainly, from Uni became reporters or brokers/analysts. The ones who became reporters were universally some of the dimmest, most bigoted twerps I knew while the analysts were the most egocentric, arrogant, close minded, narcistic, unimaginative... well you get the picture. Perhaps they have all improved with the following generations. It was a strange experience in following years watching them pontificate on TV, or reading them in the newspapers or meeting some of their clients in business who had given them large sums of money to manage knowing what total contempt they had inspired at Uni.
If there was the least bit of science or skill in any of these estimates they would exhibit such variation.
