Ann: Salamander-1 Produces First Steam , page-12

To be honest it really is a dream announcement. I should have bought more for a short term trade today.

"Salamander-1 short flow reservoir test 31 March, 2010; first steam from a hot sedimentary aquifer in Australia."

I note that GDY also encountered steam from a hot sedimentary aquifer but it wasn't wanted at the time (although the source of steam was controversial at the time, at least here on HC). I would add a LOL but it was not and still isn't funny, so I won't.

Other points to note:
1. As speculated the target reservoir is approximately 1000m thick. A temperature of 130 deg C was recorded at the top of it (3000m depth).
2. The bottom hole temperature is "expected to increase further as the temperatures in the well have not yet fully recovered from the cooling action of the recently completed drilling".
