Head of mining research at the investment bank Barrenjoey, Glyn Lawcock, said the world’s focus on rapidly decarbonising high-polluting energy sources meant quality metallurgical and thermal coal mines like Glencore’s will be hard to replace. “Coal is going to be a good annuity investment.
