A major can release just $1B pretty easily to do an exploration campaign to 40 wells if they want gas.
Western Gas we’re JV with Hess when the previous wells were drilled I think, Western Gas bought the remainder of the leases when Hess almost done ent bankrupt in 2015. Then retrieved seismic data from the previous owner, had it independently reprocessed and came up with Sansanof 1.
Some of the big players from GLV & Western Gas are ex Woodside big wigs…
