David Lotan (LHI Capital) speaking at a pre-PDAC mining event, starts off briefly looking at broader market cycles and volatility in commodities and the 2nd order effect on the equities of commodity producers. It is packed with useful visualisations….a couple of favourites:



Anyway, it then discusses gold, and the role of organic capital from discovery using the Swan Zone at Fosterville as an example on how “Great Discoveries Finance themselves…and, Sometimes the Market”
It does gloss over the role that ‘geological understanding’ played in getting to the Swan Zone Discovery…but I suppose that's not the point of the talk. It’s a great overview of the impact a discovery like Swan can have on the entire sector.
Also, discusses the role of networks like Trinity, Lundin Family etc and of relevance to S2 now is Inventa Capital founded by Craig Parry who chairs, amongst others, NexGen Energy, IsoEnergy and…Outback Goldfields.
