You've got a point there. Seems to me this 'offer' came out of left field, and was unexpected. Company said "well let's take it, we can do without GR and the money will certainly be useful"
Also maybe, "So what if the deal tanks? By that time we will be well ahead in our drilling/mining plans and have seen the back-end of that scum-bag financier - we will just sell the punters the news and the hype"

Well I'm not so sure guys,an old headmaster used to say "If you fly with the crows, expect to get shot at" And that is relevant up Curry way.
