Pig Iron is the game and local US demand is sky rocketing. In Jan 2022 Pig Iron imports to imports to the USA YOY were up ~ 153% in Jan 2022
Since then the war in Ukraine has taken out some of the largest suppliers of Pig Iron in the market with the Black Sea suppliers from Ukraine and Russia normally providing around 60% of imports into US & even higher volumes into European markets.
Russia is actively targeting Ukraine infrastructure and industrial manufacturing sites to enfeeble its economy.
It will take 10 years probably longer to rebirth this supply across the Black Sea!
Can you imagine what the price of Pig Iron will do as a result for a sustained period?
I absolutely support the decision to increase focus on Pig Iron.
