My statement is based on simple mining fundaments of strip ratios and grade.
It's was found a number of years ago that in the pit floor there is a pocket of higher grade ore that they are mining with a much lower strip ratio than the whole OC mining plan. As per the below. In Q1 they got 3.5t of ore for every t of waste that they drilled blasted and removed. In Q2 that dropped to almost 1 to 1 of waste to ore. With stage 1 coming to an end and them needing to strip waste to get to the stage 2 ore which from memory is also lower grade.
Coupled with the fact that they have been preferencing processing the higher grade ore which is completely understandable. But as that diminishes they will need to crush sort and process more t's to produce the same amount of concentrate. This increases costs.
So I can not see how you can think operating cost will decrease.
My guess is that they will produce circa 600t of concentrate for the QTY but will not cover costs again.
