Now, just a little detail of what BHP is doing re Samarco and the local environment and people through the Lenovo foundation from the BHP AGM today.
So far the Renovo foundation has funded the building of new sewage treatment plants along the river at many locations to treat previously-untreated raw sewage that had entered the river (with negative human, environmental and economic impacts) - the annual volume of raw sewage treated by these plants is about 10 times the once-off discharge from the failed tailings dam.
Just one element there - the newly-built houses, schools, church, roads etc looked good too.
