the oil game seems to be like that - it is costly, and there are a lot of total failures. i recall, that woodside, went for years and years, with no luck. donkey years ago, they had a joint venture partner, called mid eastern oil, and between them, they lost a lot of money drilling for oil. enventually, they hit paydirt, but it took a long time. i think that most oil companies become penny dreadfulls - very quickly. i tend to steer clear of this sector, but of course, i have had the odd play. gold on the other hand, is a wonderful commodity. there is a reasonable amoung of it floating around, and it is a commodity, which is suited to all sizes of organizations. big companies need big deposits, but small companies can get by on small deposits. syndicates can get by with even smaller deposits, and single man operaters, need even less. the extraction, and processing is relatively simple. i suppose for a lot of prospectors, though, it is a shame that the old state batteries have closed down

anyway. i hope that maari comes good - after all, i have shares in cpc, and hopefully, they will double in price, so that i can get my money back
