Hey Buzz it appears that, in this case, Glencore are underwriters...period. soundings are, in general, completed prior to agreement to underwrite so 'anticipation to sound out investors', as you have written is stretching the endeavor. However you are correct that should those soundings not complete then the underwriters would have a way out. Not a very sound business model or something you would like to add to your resume. But thanks for the heads up....we can't say we weren't warned that there could be risks associated with a loan application.
