For Santos to request an extension would suggest even if the interpretation of surveys are difficult, there must be something worthwhile investigating (large scale production), even to Australias second largest oil producer. Santos probably would not consider something on a smaller scale, whereas CIG still may be able to be benefit from these wells even if Santos pulled the pin on them.
