I saw the minister make the comments on TV. He quoted scientists (presumably climate scientists) and economist but what about engineers. Has he actually spoken to them to ascertain how many pumped hydro projects, size, cost, height etc. we need to store the requisite energy. South Australia has already demonstrated that the task is impossible and continues to push for a new inter-connector to NSW.
The great advantage of natural gas is that you can blend in around 20% of hydrogen without having to modify most equipment. This provides a smooth pathway to the expansion of renewable hydrogen.
