Canadian dairy giant Saputo has further increased its takeover offer for Warrnambool Cheese and Butter.

There is currently a three-way way bidding war for the south-west Victorian dairy company, with Murray Goulburn and Bega Cheese also vying for the processor.

Saputo says it is increasing its offer to $9.20 if more than 50 per cent of Warrnambool's shareholders accept Saputo's offer.

Saputo's takeover bid currently has the backing of Warrnambool's board.
