I'm not sure where you got the 1% from. My understanding is it is one half of a _cent_ per share, with a minimum fee of $1. So selling 1000 CREV would have a commission of 1000 * 0.005 = US$5.

And that's not just my reading of the docs, that is approximately my experience. Selling 520 shares earlier this year (in a different company, with a price around $100/share) cost me a commission of US$3.22, which is a little above the expected US$2.60. I'm not sure what accounts for the difference and didn't look into it, but either way, the fee is insignificant.
