Gold Road has been a great investment for me but gotta say it's probably been the most annoying company (in a mild way) I've ever owned shares in.
It should have changed its name to Woke Road Resources. Its communication with shareholders was embarrassing at times, over the top woke, unbecoming of a gold miner. But the chart was superb and Gold Fields seemed to be running Gruyere very well, so I couldn't bring myself to sell.
But overall, what a fantastic achievement Gruyere is. So credit where credit's due - Gold Road has made a lot of money for shareholders and it's paid out millions of dollars in wages, royalties and taxes, and no doubt will continue to do so for years to come. It's a true wealth generator and I'm guessing that all the good things it does for Australia go largely unappreciated by society at large. But I'm grateful.
