I worked for Barrick in Australia around 12 years ago when Pascua Lama in Argentina/Chile almost sent them under, and they had a firesale of most of their Oz assets just to survive.
They swore after that they'd be focusing primarily on their North American assets, so I'd be extremely surprised if they lobbed in a bid considering this asset has already burned them.
