It appears that you belong to the school of economics that believes that if you found yourself on an aeroplane that was going to crash, that a parachute salesmen would instantly materialise in front of you, to cater to your demand for a parachute.
Economics in the real world is not quite that frictionless.

The NTC scheme had no-shop provisions, so a competing bid would have to have come in cold.
There will not always be other buyers ready willing and able to create a competitive market for such a company.
It is naive to believe that a competitive market for such an asset will necessarily materialise, just because you have need of it.

The thing that pisses off at least some of the long term holders is that there was no imperative to sell the company in the first place.

But you have got one thing right. There is no point whinging about it now.
