I think a good comparison of projects is OM Holdings - Bootu Creek Mine.

In 2015 (Around when Aurora ditched their project) the mine was placed on Care and Maintenance due to depressed ore prices and poor outlook... late 2016 the project started production again when the MN had began its recovery (~USD$1.8 kg and its now USD$2.06 and rising).

The project itself consists of a large amount of smaller deposits which are mined individually via open cut method

Admittedly its a larger project at 30MT @24% MN but proves the viability of these types of projects as the MN is trucked 60+KM and refined then put on a train for 800+KM.
