The wilderness area has burnt. You may need to google what a wilderness area is as you have none in Greece. But the quick version ... it’s an area of land untouched by man. This area burns periodically (and naturally) (every 10 to 30 years) and has been doing that for millions of years. The land doesn’t need replanting (as per your previous assumption) as much of the larger eucalyptus trees survive and much of the scrub below needs fire for seeds to germinate (as does the eucalyptus canopy above). .... as has been happening for millennia.

For KPT
- the radiata pine will most likely have been killed in the fire effected plots. These dead trees will be selectively harvested and plots replanted (the fires will have killed the trees but not burnt all the wood).
- The Southern Blue Gums will generally survive the fire. However with some loss to growth rates KPT will optimise whether they harvest/replant, harvest/coppice or leave to continue growing.

KPT know what they are doing and will assess and update shareholders once they can properly assess the situation.

So a dent to KPT’s timber assets growth rate ... but your “all gone up in smoke” is not just hyperbole, but utter nonsense.

any idea how much the pine is insured for? Biological assets were listed at 115mil at the annual report.
