The m6A RNA methylation system is very highly conserved and basically works exactly the same in all animals. There are individual species differences at the gene level, but at a global level the systems are identical. This is one of the reasons it is such an exciting target, that and the fact that it seems to be driving cancer growth in cells from all tissue types.
The amazing thing is how long the system took to be discovered. Coincidently, it was genomic sequencing technology advancements that allowed it to be found. Everything seems to be connected to everything.
