The generation of new managers have responsibilities to boards who also have responsibilities. They can't just run around like cowboys and Rrobber Barrons of the previous centuries. There were investors both in the Permian gas binge and during the GFC. With excess and innovative methods of financing come some controls.
I say that because I had some of that training and it's not what those untrained assume it to be. Especially regarding hedging.
There still exist that kind of cowboys - In Russia. (Progozin was Putin's cook wasn't he?).
All IMVHO.
