There are countless tests that are still to be done by EDE and those trialing the product, as there are numerous applications and thousands of variables with the different concrete mixes and additives used, with or without Edencrete and at variable concentrations, etc. Customer engineers will be trying to determine the optimum acceptable performance level for what they require at the lowest possible cost (upfront and over the life of the structure). Governments and those that manage infrastructure items throughout their life, are likely to pay more attention to duration performance than say developers who are looking to construct at minimum cost, make a quick buck and get out (thereby passing on the potential for chronic failures, like concrete cancer, to future owners, etc). It was good to see that the announcement spoke to “further product development of EdenCrete”. EDE acknowledged that this is technically complex work and takes time to implement. Eventually I can see them having a range of products for use in particular applications (e.g. dams, roads, pre-cast beams, shotcrete, etc) based on what they know works through their experience of extensive field trials and lab-testing.
