Yansteel, as part of their business expansion plan, have recently finished construction of a substantial plant which is dedicated to using ilmenite feedstock.
Yansteel has a 5 year fixed take or pay contract with KMS. Yansteel and Sheffield are both 50:50 JV partners of KMS.
The first Ilmenite bulk shipment to Yansteel is scheduled for later this month or March. Being a lower price per tonne product than the zircon concentrate, bagged shipments are not as economical, so KMS is waiting for bulk shipping availability before commencing ilmenite exports.
